Cat Health

There are important factors to consider when dealing with cat health. Diet plays a large role, along with contact with other cats. Heredity will also determine if a cat will struggle with a certain disease along with aging. Letting a cat roam free will increase his chances of contact with communicable diseases.

Some cat health issues are chronic. Chronic diseases require a commitment from the owner to provide ongoing care. Diabetes, arthritis, and chronic renal failure are common chronic diseases which require constant care. Some other ailments which may not seem as dangerous can be just as harmful these include FLUTD, hairballs, and dental diseases.

Veterinary care is critical. Vaccines are needed to prevent diseases that can be passed from one cat to another. Pets should be spayed and neutered to prevent pregnancies and STD’s among cats. Going to the vet at least once a year is recommended.
