Cat breeds
As those who have bought a cat before know, there are
a number of different cat breeds from which a person can choose. The
breed of cat you choose will likely make a difference when you get the
cat in the home. Some cats do better in certain homes than others.
• Loud vs. quiet – When looking at cat
breeds, you need to determine if you want a loud cat or a quiet cat.
There are certain types of cats that tend to be more vocal than others.
Siamese, Burmese and Korat cats are all more vocal, while Somali and
American Curl cats tend to be quieter.
• What suits the family – If you have
children who will want to cuddle with the cat, it is better to choose
one that does not want to be independent. On the other hand, if you
will be gone most of the day, it is probably better to find a cat that
does not want to cuddle, but instead is fine being on its own.
• Hair – Some cats have longer hair while
other cat breeds have much shorter hair. Typically those with allergies
are more allergic to those cats with longer hair. Also, there is less
maintenance required if you own a cat with short hair.
